During the Seven Years War, cavalry was still the decisive force on the battlefield. Their mobility and ferocious striking power could rout all but the most determined infantry. Dragoons were primarily mounted infantry who could maneuver and strike at unwieldy infantry columns with impunity. Hussars were primarily light skirmishers, harassers, and anti-cavalry forces.
